The Fulbright Scholarship 2022 (Master’s and PhD) Program has been announced by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan. The Program covers all costs associated with pursuing a graduate degree, including tuition, maintenance, insurance, and air travel. All candidates will be eligible to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE General) this year, and the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) requirement from last year has been eliminated.

The Fulbright Masters and PhD Program supports master’s and doctoral studies in the United States. Tuition, required textbooks, airfare, a living stipend, and health insurance are all provided by these grants, which are sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). USEFP also helps in the visa process.

Candidates for the Masters degree programme must have either a four-year Bachelor’s degree or a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from an approved institution, totaling 16 years of formal education. Except for MBA and Public Policy/Administration candidates, who must have two years of work experience, recent graduates are highly encouraged to apply.

Qualified candidates for the PhD programme would have a Master’s, M.Phil., or equivalent degree from an accredited university (a minimum of 18 years of formal education). Candidates with experience in teaching, science, or the public sector in Pakistan are highly desired.

All academic fields, with the exception of clinical medicine, are eligible for both the Masters and PhD programmes. All applicants must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Minimum verbal and quantitative scores of 138 and 136, respectively, are expected under the new scoring system. Applicants must also have a high degree of spoken and written English fluency.The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) will be required from all the selected candidates.

Both successful candidates must sign a contract with USEFP and, in the case of successful Ph.D. candidates, a bond with the HEC, obligating them to return to Pakistan immediately following their program in the United States and represent the country for the number of years equal to the duration of their scholarship program. This contract can be redeemed for a minimum of two years on a year-by-year basis.,as long as a person fulfills the service requirement, he or she will pay nothing.

Fulbright Scholarship 2022 Application Cycle

Each year, applications are accepted in February, with a deadline of about May for submission. The application review and interview process will go on until September, with the results coming out in mid-October. Following collection, the university application and placement process lasts until February, with visa interviews lasting until June.The departure to the U.S. commences in July and onwards, depending on the universities reporting dates.

Fulbright Scholarship 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Pakistani citizens, residing and working in Pakistan, with strong
academic histories in all disciplines except clinical medicine are
welcome to apply.

Persons chosen for Fulbright programmes are required to share knowledge about Pakistani life and culture with their American colleagues and community groups in addition to academic work. Fulbright grantees are expected to share their American experiences with Pakistani colleagues and community groups when they return home.Successful candidates must be prepared to take on leadership roles in their fields and be committed to returning to Pakistan and serving the country.

Ineligibility

Persons with dual U.S./Pakistan nationality, or those with a U.S. citizen or permanent resident spouse, parent, fiancé, or child over the age of 18.
Employees of the Fulbright Foundation or the Department of State of the United States, as well as their partners, fiancés, siblings, dependents, infants, and parents. Employees of USAID or the HEC, as well as their spouses and fiancés, are eligible to participate in services sponsored by their agencies.As a general matter, preference for Fulbright student opportunities
will be given to candidates who have not previously received a Fulbright
student grant.Persons already studying in the U.S. or on a work/residence visa in any country.

A complete application package includes:

  • An application form
  • Three reference letters
  • Your GRE score report and
  • Scanned
    transcripts, including an explanation of the grading scale of the
    university issuing the degree, should be uploaded. Please note that
    HEC-attested documents are preferable with the application but degree
    and transcripts attested by the issuing authority will be accepted at
    the time of application.
