Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life

A stable, balanced lifestyle necessitates the establishment of clear boundaries. A boundary is a line drawn on our personal property that demarcates what we are responsible for. Boundaries, in other words, describe who we are and who we are not. Boundaries have an effect on every aspect of our lives: Physical boundaries assist us in determining who is allowed to contact us and under what conditions-Emotional boundaries help us deal with our own emotions and disengage from the negative, manipulating emotions of others — Mental boundaries allow us the right to have our own thoughts and opinions — Spiritual boundaries assist us in distinguishing God's will from our own, renewing our awe for our Creator.

When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life

Christians often put so much emphasis on being compassionate and selfless that they overlook their own shortcomings and limitations. When confronted with their lack of limits, they pose the following question:

Is it possible to set boundaries and yet be a caring person?
- What do you mean by "legitimate boundaries"?
- What if my limits offend or injure someone?
- How do I respond to someone who is requesting my time, love, energy, or money?
- Aren't limits self-serving?
- When it comes to setting limits, why do I feel guilty or afraid?

Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend provide biblically based responses to these and other difficult questions, demonstrating how to establish healthy boundaries with our parents, partners, children, colleagues, coworkers, and even ourselves.

A super awesome life changing book!  Deals with almost all spheres of life in saying "no" . The book focuses on the fact that,  " an internal no nullifies an external yes. "
I really believe every person should read this book once in their lifetime. I came to know about what my boundaries are and how to implement them.

This book has and continues to help me improve my life by being more authentic in my relationships. I refer to it often, over the past 4 years.  It doesn't happen overnight, it's a process and a journey to unlearn the old behaviors. It's been on my nightstand for the last four years.
